Blending modes

The Blending Modes

This tutorial demonstrates how to use Blending Modes by combining three different objects.

Blending Modes are essential tools for removing objects and combined objects from an image.

Blending modes work by combining pixels on the various color planes.

Blending modes can be applied to any layer in an image, which means you can combine layers such as a layer mask, drop shadow, and layer styles.

You can even apply blending modes in a single color, in a gradient, or with a combination of colors.

The blending mode image shown here is an example of a simplistic, single color, green-to-black gradient that blends on a white background.

Image two is combined using the Magic Blend mode.

The UV Mix mode blends the color of the underlying layer with the colors in the destination layer.

This image illustrates the use of the Vivid Light mode, where colors are blended in the direction the light is coming from (or going to if the light source is on the far side of the object).

The Lighting Mix mode is a combination of the Color Burn and the Vivid Light modes.

The Scatter Blend mode works with the Scattering tool for creating a rough, blended-together look.

The Multiply mode blends the pixels in the destination layer with the background color, making them appear like they were painted on.

You can also add the Fuzzy (or Smudge) mode, where each color combines with the pixels in the destination layer in a rough manner, similar to the Scatter mode.

You can select the Magic Wand tool, paint over part of an image, and then use the Blending options to select which areas should blend from the source layer to the destination layer.

You can adjust the Opacity of the source and destination layers to obtain a certain blend.

You can adjust the Mode for the blend to make it more or less blended.

There are many blending modes available in Photoshop, such as Multiply, Screen, Hard Light, Soft Light, Pin Light, Overlay, Darken

How to access the EventLog in Windows Forms?

I want to enable logging of specific events. I know that I can check the Environment.UserName field on the event log entry, but I want this to be done in my code. So, for example, I run a batch file, I want to enable/disable logging on the event log entry based on this. Is there an event log reader that can be used in this kind of situation?

Just to add to @Christian’s suggestion – there’s another event logging option available in.NET 2.0.
You can subscribe to the Application_Startup event. See Jon Skeet’s article on event-based Windows logs for more on this.
There’s a good example included in the article:
using System;
using System.Collections.Specialized;
using System.Diagnostics;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;

namespace EventLogApp
public partial class Form1 : Form
public Form1()

private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
var eventLog = EventLog.CreateInstance(Guid.NewGuid().ToString());
var list = eventLog.Entries.Cast()
.Where(entry => entry.InstanceId == -1) // all events
.Where(entry => entry.Message.Contains(“here’s my text”)); // events where my text is in the message
list.ForEach(entry => eventLog.WriteEntry(“Here’s my text”, entry));

Firebase FCM Notification JSON – how to set RemoteMessageBodyKey?

I’m trying to use FCM to send push notifications to some users. I’m using the Firebase console with “Android > Messages > Add Web Server” enabled.
My code is based on the official Firebase tutorial:
Future _sendPush(String messageBody) async {
final headers = {};

final message = Map();
message[‘title’] = “TITLE”;
message[‘body’] = messageBody;
message[‘content-available’] = ‘1’;

final headersValue = Map();
headersValue[‘content-type’] = ‘application/json’;
headersValue[‘charset’] = ‘utf-8’;

try {
var result = await FirebaseInstanceId().sendNotification(message,
payload: messageBody,
notificationTitle: message[‘title’],
[ FirebaseNotificationChannel(channelName: “users”)]);
print(‘Message sent with result: $result’);
print(‘Channels :’ + result.channels.keys);
print(‘Token : $result.token’);
print(‘Message : $messageBody’);
print(‘MessageId: $result.messageId’);
} on Error catch (e) {
print(“Message failed with error : $e”);

And my Result looks like this:
Message sent with result: Message Id: null, Sender ID: null, Message: “Hello World”, Token: “SENDER_ID”, Channels : [“Default”, “users”]

However, I’m missing the RemoteMessageBodyKey in the result.message object and that prevents me from properly parsing the JSON result:
Map result = _message
