AutoCAD Free For PC (April-2022)

Unlike other CAD programs, AutoCAD’s graphical user interface (GUI) allows a user to design both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) objects. The program’s workflow and ease of use makes it one of the most popular CAD programs available.

AutoCAD software is available in both desktop (and portable) and mobile/web editions. If you have a version of AutoCAD software that is more than six months old, a standard version of the software is available for purchase as of January 1, 2020. You can also download the latest version of AutoCAD 2019 software free of charge. This article will help you understand and compare these versions.

Note that this article will only cover the desktop edition of AutoCAD.

AutoCAD pricing

With AutoCAD, you can choose from a variety of subscription models to suit your CAD needs. You can purchase a perpetual license, which allows you to use the software and updates for the lifetime of the license. You can also purchase a subscription model that will give you access to updates and new features as they are released.

AutoCAD Subscription

With AutoCAD Subscription, you can upgrade to the latest version of the software, if and when released. The subscription models include either annual, monthly, or weekly updates.

Version history

AutoCAD 2000
AutoCAD 2000 was initially a word processor for drafting drawings. It was a feature-rich word processing package that had drafting features. It was released in October 2000. At the time of its release, it supported several main types of drafts, including 2D, 3D, and drafting with paper models. It had been developed to support its sister product AutoCAD R14 since AutoCAD R14 was not expected to have drafting capabilities. However, by the release of AutoCAD 2000, it supported 2D drafting.

AutoCAD 2000 was replaced by AutoCAD in 2002, which had similar drafting features. AutoCAD R14 was discontinued in 2006, and it was only through the release of AutoCAD 2007 that AutoCAD 2000 became obsolete.

AutoCAD 2001
AutoCAD 2001 was released in September 2001, and supported two main types of drafts: 2D and 3D, as well as paper models. This was an upgrade from AutoCAD 2000, in that it added both 2D and 3D drafting, and also paper models. AutoCAD 2001 was the first version of AutoCAD that was released in a year that was skipped.

AutoCAD 2001 was replaced by AutoCAD 2002 in 2002, which was similar in features. However, it did not support paper models, and was only able to work on AutoCAD 2000 files.

AutoCAD 2002
AutoCAD 2002 was released in October 2002, and introduced a new type of drafting, as well as enhancements to 2D and 3D drafting.

AutoCAD 2002 was replaced by AutoCAD 2004 in 2004, which was a major upgrade.

AutoCAD 2006
AutoCAD 2006 was released in October 2006, and introduced both new and improved drafting features.

AutoCAD 2007
AutoCAD 2007 was released in October 2007, and continued the trend of significant upgrades every year.

AutoCAD 2008
AutoCAD 2008 was released in November 2008, and added many new features and enhancements.

AutoCAD 2009
AutoCAD 2009 was released in November 2009, and added many new features and enhancements.

File formats

AutoCAD is used as a plug-in for the product Revit, developed by Autodesk.

AutoCAD 2010 does not support the DXF import/export of most Revit elements, and has its own import/export format. However, Revit supports importing and exporting to AutoCAD. The type of AutoCAD file which Revit imports is the DWG format, named after the initials of the names of the two primary developers: D. Ward and B. Gibbs.

AutoCAD 2011 supports import and export of Revit elements, so that a Revit document can be opened directly from the DWG or DWF import of a Revit file (AutoCAD Architecture 2010 has a separate import format).

AutoCAD 2012 and 2013 support import and export of Revit elements in the DWG format, as well as new formats in the CAD format. AutoCAD 2014 supports import and export of 3D CAD, 2D DWG and DWF files as well as the 2D/3D DWG/DWF/CAM formats.

A Rhino plugin, called Rhino Commander, is available for AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD 2011. It allows the user to import and export.DWG files.

Support for Rhino files was included in AutoCAD 2012 and later.

A Rhino plugin for AutoCAD is available. It provides both import and export capabilities of.DWG files.

Design Modeling

AutoCAD 2010 introduced Design Modeling, the first tool for 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) to use parametric modeling.

Design Modeling (DM) (sometimes referred to as 2D CAD) is used to create, edit, and display 2D computer-aided design (CAD) models of graphical and/or text based elements, including curves and surfaces. Design Modeling uses parametric modeling, also known as parametric drawing, to create 2D or 3D models.

Modeling is the creation of new geometric forms. In this example, a drawing is made up of geometric forms that are joined together in a way that allows them to be manipulated, such as cutting, joining, and more. With parametric modeling, each individual shape can have its own parameters associated with it. When the parameter is altered, the object

Markup Import and Markup Assist gives you more control over importing and inserting your markup. It has a new Import and Edit tool that lets you import and edit your markup without opening it. You can also select and tag multiple overlapping objects on one or more drawings for easier editing and reimporting.

Drawing Enhancements:

Design and annotate your objects with text, arrows, and colors to create a rich, interactive drawing experience. Change the color of your text, apply annotation styles to the text, and create custom styles.

You can annotate drawings with colors, solid fills, textures, lines, arrows, text, and more. You can also add alpha channels to your drawings and edit them to add color to transparent areas. In addition, you can apply an annotation style to a series of objects to use in a drawing, and they’re stored separately for easier re-use. (video: 2:05 min.)

Create 3D models with multiple sections and hidden sections, and edit them using attributes. Create a 3D model by using the Part tool, or by combining a series of objects. Then, draw the model from different perspectives, or add attributes such as color and shadows to the model. Use the Edit Attributes tool to access the hidden section and sections.

Enhancements for 2D drawing:

Create 2D drawings with enhanced functionality. Increase efficiency by importing images to drawings and then easily edit them. The DWG file format has been enhanced, and you can load.PDF files directly into drawings.

When you import images directly into your drawings, you can quickly edit them, such as rotating, scaling, and cropping the image. You can also annotate the imported images with different types of text, such as annotations, comments, and title blocks.

Enhancements for handling PDFs:

Use all the PDF tools in the PDF and Multimedia tools, including modifying font sizes and styles, embedding images and documents, and creating and editing hyperlinks. You can also attach PDF files to drawings and make them searchable and hyperlinked, as well as include objects and images from the files.

Create a hyperlink to a PDF document by using the Copy Hyperlink tool. You can also use the PDF Zoom tool to zoom in on a selected part of the PDF document and a Clip tool to copy the PDF document’s contents.
