Rollback in Spring JPA
I am using Spring 3.1 and Hibernate as ORM and JPA. While using Spring MVC I have a good understanding of, how to use @Repository classes. Now I am trying to use plain JPA annotations in my project without Spring MVC. To avoid using any annotations I did the following:
I make a DAO method that inserts a row to database, and have it returns the ID.
I have a service class that uses the DAO to get the ID and stores it in a instance variable for later use.
Then, when the user hits a button I fire a JSF @ModelAttribute(“new_value”) parameter that passes to my backing bean the value.
The backing bean then performs an update of the database and invokes a service method that will undo the changes made by the DAO.
This is working well in a web app with NO Spring. But I am having trouble when using JPA annotations, because the transaction is not disposed of. So, when the DAO returns it returns the ID.
How can I solve this?
For example:
