AutoCAD history

AutoCAD (AutoCAD-Windows) was originally developed for the use of architects and engineers to create 2D drawings and 2D-to-3D technical drawings. The base application was called Autodesk AutoCAD and later Autodesk Inventor. Later, the base application was renamed Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture.

AutoCAD initially consisted of two separate applications, AutoCAD and AutoCAD 2000. The latter was a large-scale upgrade of the former, and introduced new features such as layer-based drawing, distance fields for geometric modeling and billowing, rendering using ray-traced shadow maps, animation and the ability to view drawing files in a variety of formats.

AutoCAD 2007 is released on October 26, 2006 and consists of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. AutoCAD 2007 discontinued the LT version for the first time since the release of AutoCAD in 1982. The new release adds many improvements, and introduces a new approach to documentation called Structured Design. It also introduces a modular philosophy, which was preceded in the same release by Structure Studio.

AutoCAD LT (AutoCAD-Linux) was released on April 30, 2007.

On October 15, 2009, Autodesk released AutoCAD 2008, which includes the full suite of DWG and DXF file formats and adds 2D perspective views.

On September 13, 2010 Autodesk released AutoCAD 2009, which includes 2D perspective views in 2D DWG and DXF formats and 3D models. It also introduces 2D and 3D wireframe, 2D pattern, and 3D solid views. It features a new automatic dimensioning tool and tools for adding BIM information to your 2D drawings. AutoCAD 2009 will support both AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD 2008 for Windows and Linux.

In June 2011 Autodesk released AutoCAD 2010. This was the last version released under the AutoCAD Architecture brand. AutoCAD 2010 is the first release to be available for both desktop and mobile devices, as well as web. The new release includes AutoCAD 2010 Architecture. It also includes software-based drafting and CAD tools to improve efficiency.

AutoCAD Architecture introduced the ability to work with 3D digital content, along with an entirely new interface. AutoCAD Architecture also added automatic dimensioning and a more intuitive building tool.

Theodor Ritter von Schauensee

Theodor Ritter von Schauensee (29 September 1828 – 10 March 1884) was a Prussian military officer and member of the Wittgenstein family.

He was born on 29 September 1828, in Dresden. He was the son of General Karl Ritter von Schauensee, and his wife Friederike von Hübner. He studied at the Artillery Academy in Berlin. He was commissioned in the 1st Guards Artillery Regiment in 1848. He was promoted to Leutnant in 1858.

He was appointed as the chief of staff to Friedrich Kress von Kressenstein.

On 23 December 1859, he married Marie Evelina Prinzessin von Stolberg-Stolberg (1832-1921). They had three children: Wilhelm Ritter von Schauensee (1860-1904), Hans Ritter von Schauensee (1862-1924), and Fredrika (1864-1924). His children married the children of Duke Alexander of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, sons of Prince Frederick of Denmark.

On 4 March 1870, he was promoted to Oberleutnant (First Lieutenant).

On 6 May 1871, he was appointed as the chief of staff to General von Werder. On 2 September 1871, he was promoted to Hauptmann (Captain).

On 25 June 1872, he married his second wife, Therese von Lingen (1843-1916), who was the daughter of Karl von Lingen.

On 16 October 1874, he was promoted to Major.

On 24 June 1876, he was appointed as a professor of the Artillery and Fortification Academy.

On 7 April 1877, he was appointed as the chief of staff to Prince William of Prussia.

On 2 September 1878, he was appointed as the chief of staff to Lieutenant General von der Tann. On 1 October 1878, he was promoted to Oberstleutnant (Colonel).

He died on 10 March 1884, in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg.
