AutoCAD Design Principles
In 1995, Autodesk introduced a new approach to CAD, designing a “user-centered” approach that included “design principles”. These principles outlined a series of non-technical requirements that Autodesk believed any commercially viable CAD product must meet, and dictated that Autodesk would decide what needed to be done to meet those requirements and how to implement it. These principles included things like intuitive graphics and navigation, as well as more technical criteria, such as a rigorous workflow. The design principles were generally not met by prior CAD products.

AutoCAD User Interface
AutoCAD includes a number of tools that simplify the creation of objects and drawings, and a series of dialog boxes for working with the objects. AutoCAD also includes a customizable drawing environment, using grids, snap to line, snap to point, and other features to make it easier to create and edit drawings. The city of Bellmore is hoping for a savings of $120,000 annually by not having to shell out a license fee for a new, but already-approved, movie theater.
City officials are proposing that the taxpayer-funded Bellmore Civic Association — which owns the Ritz Theater at 366 Hempstead Turnpike — sell the screen as part of a purchase of the 4,000-seat theater for $1.5 million. The city would pay the remainder of the purchase price.
The city-owned center, which has been closed since the 2000-2001 season because of deferred maintenance and an outdated sound system, would be turned into a community theater.
“The movie theater is a great venue for our community,” said City Councilman John Menchaca. “It brings thousands of people to our city. We want to keep it available for our citizens.
“It’s a very good offer. They are very motivated to sell. It’s been open to the public for eight months,” he added.
The city council will hold a workshop to determine whether to go ahead with the sale on Tuesday, Feb. 19, said Menchaca, chairman of the city’s Arts & Culture Committee.
The deal will require approval of the state Department of Community Affairs, which currently regulates movies in New York, said Councilman Bob Fritz.
The Department of Community Affairs, however, has no objection to the transfer of control of the Bellmore theater to the Bellmore Civic Association, said Julie Ruggiero, a spokeswoman.
“A license is not required,” she said.
Under state law, the civic association can transfer a license for an outdoor concert or theater production without Department of Community Affairs approval, she said.
Any change in control of the theater must be approved by the U.S. Department of Justice, which is not required to approve the transfer of control of the theater under state law, Ruggiero said.
