It is recommended that this tutorial be read before proceeding to the next tutorial.
To start this tutorial, open AutoCAD, click File, and click Open. In the Select a drawing: Drawings dialog box, choose the AutoCAD R2007 file you downloaded in the previous tutorial, select it, and click Open.
AutoCAD starts. You are now ready to work in AutoCAD.
Note: Although the files in this tutorial are saved with the AutoCAD R2007 standard file format, a file saved with the newer R2008 standard format has the extension.dxf. You can choose which file format to use by choosing Tools > Preferences > File Formats.
Step 1: Launch the Draw Features window
Before you start working in AutoCAD, you need to launch the Draw Features window. This tutorial refers to this window as the Drawing Features window, but the name is often shortened to the Draw Features window. To launch the Drawing Features window, from the Home tab, click Draw Features, or press the D key. The Drawing Features window opens (Figure 1).
The Drawing Features window has three main sections:

The Drawing toolbar is similar to the toolbar found in other AutoCAD applications. Click the tool on the Drawing toolbar you need to access, such as the Pencil tool, and the appropriate tool appears on the toolbar.
The Draw toolbar contains the Pencil tool, the Eraser tool, the Text tool, and the Zoom tool. By default, the AutoCAD application is set to the default pen nib size of 015. To change the pen nib size, click the Pencil tool on the Drawing toolbar and then click the Pencil Size option on the Drawing toolbar. Enter the size you want and click OK. Alternatively, you can set the Pen nib size by clicking the Pencil Size option in the Drawing toolbar, selecting a size, and clicking OK.
The Modify toolbar contains the Select tool, the Layers toolbar, and the Options toolbar. The Select tool is used to select objects or to activate the Selection tool. The Layers toolbar
