The Windows img2bmp32 application is currently compiled for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It will run on Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows NT without modification.

GIMP version 2.2.14 is required for this application to operate correctly.

When launched, it has the image selector on the left hand side and the convert button in the middle. When the program is launched, it automatically opens the user interface. This image selector uses a listbox for it’s contents, so there is no need to add images through the options menu.

Now the GUI is what all the images are in, the image selector has 2 buttons on it, one for “Select” and one for “Convert”.

“Select” is used to select images from a folder. Shift-Click the mouse on the image to select it. Double click the image to convert it to BMP.

“Convert” is used to select images from the command line. They can be either text or image files. File name must be of the same or similar format.

There is also an example folder with sample images.

img2bmp32 has built in support for the -multithread flag which will convert images in parallel if available on the computer. The flag will automatically be set based on the system configuration. It is recommended to use this flag to speed up the conversion process.

img2bmp32 converts from many image formats including GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WMF, EMF, BMP, and ICO. Most formats can be converted to BMP with an alpha channel. The alpha channel is pre-multiplied and does not modify the image. This means the images display normally when used in other programs.
